Overuse Of Plastic And Its Ill Effect On Planet

Plastic usage have become habit of our daily lifestyle, almost everything we use is made of synthetic material. Products like bicycle, computers, helmet, microwaves, fridge, AC and many more are made by synthetic material. It is a quite versatile material; lot of things can be made out of it, in a way it has made our life so much easy. But not many people know that this synthetic material is quite harmful for planet and species living on it.  Plastic has long life-line; they take hundred/thousands of years to degrade in the environments. Plastics are inexpensive material and lightweight, that’s why, is it is preferred by people to carry goods. But after a single use, it is dumped in the garbage and eventually in the river or ocean.

Plastic is not easily biodegradable and gets accumulate in the water as well as on the land. It pollute the water, makes it poisonous for people and other water species. Lately so many birds, animals, fishes have died after consuming plastics as it does not get digested, many whales ate it because it has strong resembles to squid, they eat it and eventually they die of plastic poisoning. Most of the species have already become ‘endangered species’ because of plastic pollution.  According to scientists, harmful chemical component are used in making plastic and it leaves nasty imprint on the environment. Chemical used in synthetic get absorbed by human bodies and alter the hormones and cause other potential problems. Plastic debris often injures marine animals/species as well as poisons the water body and makes it highly unusable for the civilization. Floating synthetic debris on water becomes transport device for invasive species which disturb the habitats and eventually destroy the ecosystem.

The piles of plastic garbage excrete chemical in the air, which pollute the air and makes it difficult for breathing. Even if you bury it in deep soil, it leaches out the harmful chemical and gets mixed into underground water making it poisonous. Additionally, about 4% of oil production and energy goes into making plastic. Also, people are exposed to deadly chemicals on daily basis; the exposure of chemical comes through air, water, food, dust, etc.  Government of Bangladesh, Australia, and Europe has already banned the production of plastic and many other countries are following the same step. It is highly advisable not to use such harmful product which is sucking out the life of the planet.
